Le Patronyme "Gow"

Bonjour,

En étudiant la musique d'un compositeur écossais dénommé Neil Gow, je me suis interrogé sur la signification de ce nom
En effet, ce patronyme existe également en breton : ar Gow

Il se trouve que ce patronyme gaélique signifie forgeron en langage gaélique (comme tous les noms dérivés comme Mc Gowan etc)
et signifie également forgeron en breton

Il s'agit manifestement de la même origine.

Je m'interroge sur l'époque à laquelle il faut remonter pour que ce nom breton et écossais / irlandais se confonde sur un seul et même territoire? L'actuelle Grande Bretagne? Et quelle époque?
